2018 Treknologic Episode Review Picks

TNL is no longer making their picks secret! Also, we’re no longer picking episodes. Why? We feared we might be getting too many great episodes and too many bad episodes. If we kept going¬†like that for another six years, that would¬†leave all the middle episodes.

Thus, we created an utterly boring episode where we rolled three d10’s to determine which shows we’ll be reviewing for 2018.

Upcoming

We have two bonus episodes in the can. One’s edited, and will probably drop in late July after my vacation.

Do you have feedback? Send us videos, voice mails, audio files, and emails at feedback@treknologic.com. If you like our podcast, please consider giving us a nice 5 star review on iTunes. That will help us grow and keep us going, and prevent someone from going to the agony booth!

Next Episode: On the next TNL bonus episode, we will review an episode of the Outer Limits.

Chris & Keri took some time off to give back to the podcasting community at Space City Con. We hosted a Podcasting 101 panel with the help of people from other wonderful podcasts, including:

  • Paul Cooley from the Shadow Publications, a podcast of stories, writing fiction, and the occasional author rant!¬†
  • Justin Macumber from the¬†Dead Robots‚Äô Society Podcast¬†(Paul Cooley also works on this one), a podcast for aspiring writers, by aspiring writers.
  • David Wood from Thrillercast. David assures us it’s not¬†a podcast about Michael Jackson. Instead, ¬†ThrillerCast is a podcast for readers and authors of thrillers, action-adventure, science fiction, fantasy, and more, as long as it’s thrilling!

So, we decided to record it, and thought it could perhaps be useful for other people!

For it, we passed out a few materials that we thought could help people.

Also, shoutouts go to the following podcasts that attended:

  • Geek Girl Soup – A podcast about¬†TV, movies, books, and more from a Geek Girl’s perspective.
  • Warlocks Games & Brew Podcast – A superb idea that we will definitely be supporting for the Houston community! From their website: “We will feature our own beers of various styles and influence while providing a competitive and casual gaming environment for the beer enthusiast and gamer alike. Our goal is to facilitate a certain fantasy by means of cultural submersion from the d√©cor, language, and dress of our facility and wait staff. Waitresses and bar staff will become characters that customers will recognize from their favorite games and movies. The walls and furnishings will have interactive elements that only help to bring the customer into a realm they are already familiar with, the realm of nerd culture. Nothing will be quite like it.” They’re not open until October, but we’re happy to give them exposure!

Chris and Keri beamed to the convention and to see Patrick Stewart. There was quite a treat. A fan engaged Mr. Stewart and he had the most beautiful and personal answer. It was amazing. We highly recommend listening to this special episode.

A plea for help for our audition for the Parsec award.

Treknologic was recently nominated for a Parsec award. However, the TNL command crew need your help to at least get into the finals.

Over the past year, what was the best, most memorable 10 minutes of Treknologic history? We need those 10 minutes to submit to the Parsec Awards.

Please send us your suggestions to podcast@treknologic.com. Thank you!

Oh, and we recruited Galt to help us recruit help. Just ignore that collar Mike installed on you last night…

Total Time is 2:26. Hailing frequencies open!!! Today there will be no review of Star Trek. Instead, the crew of the USS Relativity is attending the Trekmas party down in The Listening Post (the Ten Forward of the Relativity).

What is Trekmas? It’s the celebration of all end-of-year traditions and celebrations across the Federation. The bridge crew talks about being thankful for Trekmas, DJ Redshirt spins some Trekmas songs, the officers discusses listener feedback, and then the crew of the USS Relativity begin their awards show, called the Crew Appreciation Day.

Contributors to the Crew Appreciation Day include:

We Wish You a Merry Trekmas

  • Lyrics by Chris & Keri’s kids and Captain Chris, Music by MattPlaysKeys, Vocals by Melissa “MW”

We wish you a merry Trekmas (x3)

and a Borg-free new year

Trek play things we bring for you and your friends

We wish you a merry Trekmas and a Borg-free new year!

So send out the many redshirts (x3)

So they don’t die here

Now bring us some Klingon bloodwine (x3)

To give us good cheer

Trek play things we bring for you and your friends

We wish you a merry Trekmas and a Borg-free new year!

We all want Trekkie presents (x3)

Please gift us good gear

Trekkies help others with kindness (x3)

Love to all our peers!

Trek play things we bring for you and your friends

We wish you a merry Trekmas and a Borg-free new year!

We wish you a merry Trekmas (x3)

and a Borg-free new year

Honorable St. Kahless

  • Lyrics by Captain Chris, Music by MattPlaysKeys, Vocals by Melissa “MW”

Honorable Saint Kahless, Klingon founder true,

Bring my Klingon warriors, weapons shiny ‚Äėn new,

Trekmas eve is coming soon; drink your good bloodwine,

Tell me what you’ll bring them, for you we will die!

When the clock is striking twelve, asleep we all are,

In the ship you’ll beam right in, even though it’s barred,

Combat boots outside our door, lying in a row,

Battle Fek’lhr to our boots, he is all our foe.

Katogh wants a bat’leth strong, Karg, a gin’tak spear,

G’trok wants a pain stick long, blades are so last-year;

As for me, the great Captain, I am true and right!

Choose for me, St. Kahless, a disrupter bright!

Fire Now (to the tune of Jingle Bells)

  • Lyrics by Chris & Keri’s kids and Captain Chris, Music by MattPlaysKeys, Vocals by Melissa “MW”

Warping through the stars

To find new forms of life

A ship of peace armed to the teeth

In a galaxy full of strive! <pew pew pew>

Romulans decloaking

Giving us a fight

Shields up, looks like we’re in

for a space battle tonight.

Fire now, fire now, Torpedoes away!

Phasers lock on their engines

So here they have to stay!

Fire now, fire now

Every torpedo bay!

Looks like our superior

Firepower has won the day!

Fire now, fire now, Torpedoes away!

Phasers lock on their engines

So here they have to stay!

Fire now, fire now

Every torpedo bay!

Looks like our superior

Firepower has won the day!

Looks like our superior

Firepower has won the day!
